He holds a number of Board positions in other organisations including the Chair of the National Council for Palliative Care and as a Commissioner of the Judicial Appointments Commission. Sophie C M Andreae
Sir Robert Crawford CBE
Robert Crawford joined the Imperial War Museum in 1968 and has been its Director-General since 1995. He was chairman of the National Museums Directors' Conference from 2000 to 2006 and also serves as a trustee of the Horniman, Fleet Air Arm, Royal Logistic Corps and Florence Nightingale museums and as chairman of the UK National Inventory of War Memorials. He was previously a board member of the Museums Documentation Association, the National Historic Ships Committee and the Sir Winston Churchill Archives Trust.
Councillor Peter Brooks
Councillor Peter Brooks became a Greenwich Foundation Trustee in November 2007. He was elected ward councillor for Thamesmead Moorings in 1997 and is currently Deputy Leader of Greenwich Council (a position held since 2001). His current portfolio includes Tourism, Regeneration and Human Resources. He holds a number of positions within Greenwich Council and on outside bodies. These include Vice Chair of the Council’s Cabinet Committee; he is a member of the Council’s Planning Board and a member of the Mayor’s Design Panel for the Thames Gateway Bridge. He is also a member of the Town Twinning Association Executive Committee and Chair of Governors at Windrush School, Thamesmead.
Dr Nicole Crockett
Nicole Crockett has worked in the field of build environment education for almost ten years. She is currently Director of the Building Exploratory in Hackney, a unique organisation that aims to capture the imagination of local communities, build their knowledge of how their area developed historically and their understanding of the factors effecting change today. Prior to this, she was Assistant Director at the Architecture Foundation. She began her career in the Architecture unit at Arts Council England and has been involved with the UK Architecture Centre Network since its inception, currently holding the position of Chair. She is also a member of the steering group overseeing the implementation of recommendations arising from the DCMS/DfES Joint Advisory Committee on Built Environment Education.
Sir John Goulden
Sir John Goulden was a member of the Diplomatic Service from 1962 until 2000. He served abroad in Ankara (in the 1960s and as Ambassador from 1992-5) Dublin, Manila, the European Union and NATO (as UK Permanent Representative from 1995-2005.) In London, he specialised in East-West and defence/arms control issues. Since retiring from the FCO in 2000, he has worked as a consultant at the Home Office, and in various local residents' groups.
Alderman Alison Gowman
Alderman Alison Gowman trained as a solicitor at her current firm of DLA Piper UK LLP where she is a senior partner in the Real Estate Group (1978- to date). Elected member of the Court of Common Council of the City of London in 1991, she subsequently became Deputy before election to the Court of Alderman for the Ward of Dowgate in May 2002. She has served as Chairman of the City of London School for Girls and various other City of London Corporation committees. She is now a member of the Finance Committee, Livery Committee, Libraries and Art Galleries Committee and Governor of the City of London School for Girls, Liveryman of the Glovers, (Court Assistant and Chairman of Finance) and the City of London Solicitors' Companies. Trustee of the Sir John Soane's Museum, Trustee of the Aldersgate Flame, Member of the Council of Gresham College, Trustee of The Missions to Seafarers and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Jillian McCalla MA
A primary head teacher with 18 years successful experience in the field of educational leadership and management. She has a proven track record of working effectively with stakeholders to raise standards of pupil achievement in challenging circumstances. She was a highly effective head teacher in Lambeth and joined Greenwich in November 2002. She is currently the head teacher of Wingfield Primary School where she has successfully led the school in significantly improving pupil achievement. This is highlighted in the school’s recent Ofsted Report (Dec, 2007) which states: “Wingfield is a good school. Strong leadership by the headteacher working with a skilled team has brought about significant improvement.”
Michael Morrison
Senior Partner of architects Purcell Miller Tritton LLP with thirty years experience of repairing and conserving historic buildings. He has previously been a member of the National Trust's Architectural Panel and the Heritage Lottery Fund Historic Buildings and Land expert panel. He is currently a member of the ICOMOS International Polar Heritage Committee.
Jane Sharman CBE
Former civil servant in various Government Departments Jane Sharman joined English Heritage in 1984 until retirement as Acting Chief Executive in 1997. Currently Jane is Chairman of Architectural Heritage Fund and HMS Cavalier (Chatham) Trust; also Trustee for Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, Bexley Heritage Trust, Royal Artillery Museum and Vivat Trust.
Rear Admiral Nick Wilkinson CB
Rear Admiral Nick Wilkinson CB, served in the Royal Navy 1959-98, in all types of surface ships, in NATO and in the Ministry of Defence. His senior posts included Director-General of Manpower and Training, Head of the Navy's Logistics Branch, and from 1994-1997 Commandant of the Joint Service Defence College, then situated in the Old Royal Naval College; he was the last Admiral to live and work there before it was transferred to the Greenwich Foundation. From 1999-2004 he ran the independent Defence, Press and Broadcasting Advisory Committee, and he is a Trustee of various voluntary and charitable institutions, with links also both to Trinity Laban and to the Maritime Institute of Greenwich University. He is also the Press Complaints Commissioner, a role he has held since 2005, and the Cabinet Office Historian.
