Please note: There is restricted access to the Painted Hall between 19-22 August, please call ahead for disabled access information on 020 8269 4799. The Painted Hall will close at 4pm on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24 August.

Occasionally the Painted Hall and Chapel are closed to public visitors, this particularly may be the case on Saturdays during the Summer season (June- Sept) when the Painted Hall may close early for functions. In such cases the Hall would generally close around 4pm, so please schedule your visit accordingly.
Information on any forthcoming closures will be posted on this site, please check for updates before your visit.

Please note the Greenwich Foundation's policies on photography, dogs and cyclists:

Photography

Wedding photography is permitted across all areas of the Old Royal Naval College for those who have booked a wedding or wedding reception facilities at the College. Wedding photography on the site is an exclusive benefit to those customers and photography for weddings performed outside the premises is not permitted.

Non-commercial photography is allowed in the Painted Hall, Chapel and grounds, however any photography which may be used for commercial or professional use requires a permit. To request a permit please call Ian Allchin, Estate Operation manager, on 020 82694795.

Dogs

The Greenwich Foundation does not allow any dogs, other than Guide dogs, into College grounds. This is stated on signs at the gates with an internationally recognisable symbol.
The site is open to visitors every day of the week. In the summer people picnic on the lawns and children play on them.
This is why we do not allow dogs: for hygiene and the safety of our visitors and to maintain the condition of the grass.

Cyclists

Cyclists may bicycle through the grounds on the dedicated cycle path which runs along the southern parimeter of the site, from the Lewin Gate at Cutty Sark Gardens to the Trafalgar Gate at Park Row. Please do not cycle through the College grounds apart from via this path, as there have been several minor accidents involving cyclists and pedestrians.

Please be aware it is against the law to smoke within any of the premises within the Old Royal Naval College grounds
